The salary of British MPs is set to increase 2.8% from 1 April 2025, according to a preliminary decision by the UK Parliament’s independent expenses watchdog.

The BBC reports the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) will make a final decision on the pay rise in mid-March, following a two-week consultation.

The proposed pay rise will take MPs’ basic salary from $91,346 (around US$118,000) to £93,904 (around US$121,000).

At the time of writing (March 2025), British MPs are the 15th highest-paid national legislators in the world.
